becoming a plant is mostly an energy sustaining thing when food is scarce - it just turns green and roots into the ground and starts producing energy without eating. it is still capable of swallowing live prey in that case, but it usually prefers not to get to the point when they have to resort to sun energy because it's depressing to live like a vegetable.

also it doesn't flower, or bear any fruit, because it completely lacks the ability to reproduce, sexually or asexually. it can only evolve and consume, but never share.

Got a bit of a stray thought, when it comes to plant-like digestion... I wonder if the unbirthed meat is 'converted' into plants and flowers from inside their lower maw.

And if that's the case, they find ingesting 'live' prey the most energising, and filling. Since all that absorbed/processed emotions leads to lively plantlife, which fuels them in turn?

Oh, now this is exciting to see! I was JUST hoping to see more of this character. And she looks just as lovely in a different artstyle! Fun fact, Iron armor would absolutely digest faster than flesh. So it kind of is the opposite digestion to what people would assume armor would allow.
