Finally, about time Yuuto showed his face..

A lot more more flashbacks than I had expected this episode but fairly important as well about the Hinatsuki incident. Not a bad thing considering that we find out more about Rokuro's past and it didn't seem pleasant either. The fight was impressive imo impressive this episode seeing Rokuro going batshit crazy ;o

The series is starting to go for a different path other than the manga, means we cannot refer episodes that is not in the manga as filler. So it might not be right to say the "next episosde" is a filler anymore. After all character development is also just part of the plot.

Wew that Benio's "dogeza", sure has been long to see something of that kind. Together with Benio's apologetic comment, totally nailed that scene there.

well it's jumping back and forth between anime original episodes and episodes kinda sorta following the manga, rather than going onto its own path

next week's episode doesn't look relevant to this week's conflict whatsoever and it looks like it's just delaying it, which is why I said it's a filler

plus filler is shorter than typing "anime original" so it's just more convenient for me to type filler even though it means something else to someone such as yourself

That wrapped the mystery of Hinatsuki tragedy, more or less.
What the... That sudden "strike" toward Chieko the glasses girl is surely shockingly surprising. And that statement from Yuto, pretty much making Benio's mental to fall and Rokuro's got "corrupted" by his own weapon. Which is bad, right?

Pretty brutal flashback. Those girls were killed off pretty gruesomely. Glasses girl especially, killed just like that, had more screentime as a corpse. Yuto's a monster indeed. Nice to see Seigen carry his little girl at least.

And yeah, more anime-original material next week.

Yuto is overdone as a villain, i could not take him seriously.

The tragedy was pretty heavy, damn. Also if Yuto can lead the both mains to more development, i'll take that of course.

That bow from Benio ;(

Finally figured out the one thing I didn't like about this series.

Essentially there is no huge fight or conflict in all of this, we're just seeing a small story in a little piece of this universe: Childhood friend and MC are OP talents, childhood friend hid ambitions, tricks other childhood friends into becoming monsters, MC forced to kill all monsters because (lets face it) MC is just as OP as childhood friend. All this happens in the miniscule scale of a single town within Japan where only a single branch of exorcist exist. Childhood friend doesn't havce any huge ambitions to rule or destroy the world, just the desire to become the strongest being regardless of the means. So now MC and newly acquired Waifu, who just so happens to be related to childhood friend, have to get stronger and stop him from getting stronger....

For all we know, this entire story could be playing out in other cities and other districts of the same universe in Japan, but they don't matter because they're not the strongest exorcists with the most potential to sire the "Saviour Baby".

Guess I just don't appreciate how "contained" the entire story seems to be. We're just watching the a conflict in one individual branch of a network of exorcists which probably spans the entire world, and thus far nothing of note has happened to indicate that the issue with these Kegare is some world-wide epidemic or whatever, just some minor conflict between the MC and his ex-friend who took the wrong path.

You would think that there'd be some overarching antagonist organization that corrupted Yuuto or something, but from what's been shown thus far, it's been pretty one dimensional. Heck, it took them 9 episodes just to arrive at introducing this first "Big Boss" character..

BOO!
FUCKING BOO!

They fucked it all up. Flushed it all down the god damn toilet.
They took out all the tension of that scene and added NONSENSE.

I had so much hope for this adaptation, they were doing so well! Even most of the filler made sense!

But this episode... everything after the Dorm flashback... WAS GARBAGE.

I am so mad. Can you tell i'm mad?

Typically, impurity attacks happen very little times in all areas on the mainland, but the number of times have increased in Narukami specifically because Yuuto decided to visit (he probably cursed a bunch of people while he was roaming around which is why the number of impurities increased). I don't remember if the anime showed Benio ever stating how there were very fewer impurity attacks back at her home in Kyoto compared to Narukami, but that was something the manga addressed, implying that serious attacks aren't so frequent. The only other place that has a huge impurity threat is a place that is yet to be revealed in the anime, which is a place where Yuuto plans to go after leaving Narukami.

But you are technically correct by saying "other places in Japan don't matter" because that's exactly what the stronger impurities think of such places.

I'm so happy to finally watch a decent episode.. This made me realize though that if it had a more darker theme in general and would leave out the shitty comedy, this show could be way more awesome imo... But yeah, looking forward to see how they actually plan to become stronger.

This episode wasn't bad imo but they messed up the buildup towards Yuto and most of all how powerful he is :(

They adapted the explanation/flashback thing really well though, and I feel like the VA did a great job portraying Yuto too

When I think about it, they messed up the buildup for a lot of things such as the Humans turning into Kegare thing.....Sighhh, I just hope that the anime manages to handle these things well enough

Took 9 episodes but we finally have a bad guy outside of the standard Kegare and he seemed like a massive nob as well.

I hope this show can wrap things up before it ends unless its a 24 episode season which would give them more time to do other things but I doubt it would be a 24 episode season.

Overall, I quite enjoyed the episode and we finally found out what happened at the Hinatsuki dorm which was quite dark

They skipped out on that and a lot of things....

I'm guessing that they will take an anime original route for all that stuff that they skipped over but imo I doubt that it'll be as impactful and shocking as it was in the manga

Holy Crap.
That was one of the best episodes I've seen of this anime so far. This is honestly becoming my second favorite series that's airing right now, straight after Jojo 4.
God I can't wait for next week if we're getting content and animation that's as good quality as this episode.

Saaaame, like Rokuro's "shocking confession" felt so shortlived and meaningless simply because the anime went straight to Yuuto's reveal a second after Benio got pissed; she didn't even have enough time to stay mad at Rokuro lol

I wonder what other moments Pierrot plans to butcher...

I thought many of the lines they delivered this episode felt out of place and overdone.... Also they need to quit it with the borders every time there's a flashback. Rokuro's past was really upsetting though and when Benio bowed to him at the end I started tearing up. Never expected to get emotional over this show >_<

This was badly executed and rushed to the point that only who has read the manga will completely understand this. The only part that was true to the source material was Yuto's dialogue to Benio and Rokuro even though it deviated a bit and that bow on Rokuro was ridiculous I don't know what the art team was thinking.

They ruined the plot with this episode, Yuto didn't even... Seigen's... and ... Mayura, or even ...Benio's..., Rokuro didn't even..., because of these actions that didn't take place here the plot line was ruined and Rukuro and Benio to me lack the necessary resolve to go against Yuto.

Let's not forget of the Basara, they screwed this up bad! This episode looked cheap.

He did in the manga. Instead we get a scene where Benio accuses Rokuru of killing her brother and he literally shows up seconds later. So dumb.

The episode was probably the best one yet. They did a pretty good job with the flashback and Yuto's introduction. The little girl's head getting bitten off and Rokuro going berserk wasn't in the manga so it was a bit shocking at first but a nice touch nonetheless.

I really like how they're handling Rokuro and Benio's relationship. The ending scene was really well done.

Also it seems like next episode they'll introduce another one of the 12 heavenly commanders.

The clichéness increases. We got the big bad? Turns out to be female lead's brother... Tbh this is getting boring.

The ep felt short, maybe because the flashbacks were too damn long. But informative nonetheless.

I hope Rokuro stops being pussy from next week as per the PV but who knows they might waste the opportunity.

Yuuto seems the usual arrogant and rogue former member of the business MC's in. The fight was waste (lol) but goo to see a new side of him.

Best episode till date.

It did feel like they moved from one thing to the other really quickly, One second Benio gets angry at Rokuro and the next minute Yuto appears and everything changes. Not liking Yuto much but let's see.

Hinatsuki tragedy was brutal.

Rokuro rage and going berserk was pretty cool to watch.

Benio bowing and apologizing was really sad :(
Nice to see both Rokuro and Benio showing resolve to get stronger.

From what I'm reading here, Is the adaptation really that bad? Should I consider switching to the manga?

Its going to be 50 eps. They are gonna stretch it out as much as they can with lame fillers and crap animation. Thats what they do. I would much rather have less episodes and a more faithfully adaptation. But they gots to get paid I guess.

Yuto's introduction had no impact because there was no proper buildup. Rokuro confessed to killing him and then he showed up literally seconds later like "hey bitches you thought I was dead didn't you, well you were fucking wrong." And like others have mentioned, it was hard to take him seriously because he's such a cliche villain. Bad for the sake of being bad (i know he has his goals to become the strongest exorcist or whatever but that's pretty much him in a nutshell). Even his mannerisms and the way he spoke seemed overdone and over-exaggerated to make a point that he's a terrible person. At least it looks like Benio and Rokuro will stop bickering now.

The best episode yet. Even though it feels like the author tried too hard to make Yuto a bad guy.

Despite that, I find it kind of odd that Rokuro would beat himself up so badly over the incident when he clearly knew full well that it was Yuto's fault. Just seems like iffy writing to me.

Nice to see the two agree to work hard together at the end.

So I decided to marathon the first few episodes of this on a whim, and I surprisingly liked it. Really liked it, in fact.

As for this episode, it was quite nice. Gave a bit more insight into a few things, which was quite helpful, and introduced what seems be one of likely many big bads. (As this series will likely be a long-runner; not One Piece or Naruto levels long, but still like four-cours, which I heard is what they're going for; But I can't confirm that) Admittedly, a few more things could've been explored, but likely they'll be explained later on in one form or another. (One thing has always pondered me: Where do these monsters come from? I know that some originate from human beings, but what about the rest of them? Are they based on emotions, do they breed like rats, what exactly?)

He was beating himself up cuz he just felt awful that he had to kill his friends and couldn't find another way to save them, and that he could've stopped Yuuto before the tragedy happened.
Yeah it's not his fault but regardless of that, he felt like he could've done something.

I don't remember specifically where in the manga explains what they are exactly but from the wiki: "Both Magano and Impurities are said to have been born from the depths of people's sins and karma."
...at least that is what we know so far...
