Now Viewing: super_paper_marioTag type: Copyright The third Paper_Mario game. It was released on April 9, 2007 for the Nintendo Wii. It is directed by Kawade Ryota and produced by Tanabe Kensuke and Kitanishi Ryoichi. Music is composed by Mitome Naoko and Sekigawa Chika. Kawabe Chie handled the art. It is the last Paper Mario game to be directed by Kawade. Starting with this game, the Paper Mario franchise would move away from the turn-based mixed with action commands style combat. This game is a 2D platformer although Mario and co. still level up. Although the game is generally humorous and light hearted in tone, the story is the darkest of the Paper Mario games and the Mario series in general. Peach is kidnapped once again, but this time not by Bowser. Rather, Count Noir (Bleck in North America) has captured her and has arranged for her to be married with Bowser in order to fulfill a prophecy in the Dark Prognosticus. Marrying the two of them causes a Chaos Heart to appear. Count Noir uses the heart to create a massive black void. Noir plans to make the void large enough so that it will swallow up and destroy the entire universe. The only way to stop Noir is for Mario to collect eight Pure Hearts from around the universe to counter the Chaos Heart. Mario teams up with the butterfly-esque Tippi to find the Hearts and prevent the universe from being wiped out. It is also the first Paper Mario game where series regulars Peach, Bowser, and Luigi join Mario's party and are playable. The game was a critical and financial success, selling 2.28 million copies worldwide by March 31, 2008, and receiving generally positive critical reviews.
