Logically, she doesn't need a good reason to eat anyone. If she's hungry, she is physically and mentally capable of eating them and destroying them in less than a second if necessary. Emotionally, she doesn't want to lose a friend but can't turn down a willing meal especially when it helps her experiment. Plus she's not interested in tackling all the morals of it so she doesn't have "unpleasant soul-searching".

Yeah, it’s a pretty interesting dynamic, eh? Makes you wonder how they became friends in the first place. Not that it really matters now :)))
