I once again find myself in a room fit for testing. As it turns out, there are plenty of companies that are actually somewhat
interested
in my eating habits, and capabilities. I would have figured a glutton as unrepentant as myself wouldn’t mesh well with the interests of corporations and their machinations, but I find myself with a sanctioned off room, getting paid a handsome amount to test their product.


Right now,

“That’ll be $127.55.” my cashier says blandly. I reach into my pocket, pull out my card, and put it in the reader. After a few prompts about rounding up, or wanting cash back, it asks for my pin. I tap the numbers necessary, and hit enter. A few seconds later, it approved my purchases… which is the first thing that’s gone right as of today.

How did I ever sucker myself into this. Sitting atop a lake of ice, in the middle of winter, staring at a freshly cut hole in this lumbering sheet of ice. It has to be at least a foot or so solid, and underneath it, is an abundance of water. I’m not sure
how
this phenomenon exists, but apparently it’s something naturally occurring. It probably happened during the winters in my home country, but I never dared to venture outdoors during then, so in all

I sit patiently in their waiting hall. My heels clack against the clean tile flooring, as I look up at the clock. Just as it hits 8am, I hear footsteps coming near me. From my side, I see him.
“Vivian! So glad you could make it on such short notice.” He says warmly, extending his hands out to hug me. I give him a slight hug, as best as I can with our notable difference in size.

The sound of tons of flowing water fills my ears. The smell of chemically cleaned water fills my nose. It’s such a peculiarly clean smell, I suppose all these people are just used to it, or their noses aren’t as sensitive as mine. I can see why people would enjoy a place like this though. All the water around me feels nice and cool, which on a day as hot as this, is quite appreciated.

I sit in the back of a pickup truck, as it drives a long a bumpy, uneven, dirt road. On either side of me are trees lined in a row, set just far enough that each tree has enough nutrients to grow, but none of them overlap each other. All the trees are peaches that have yet to be plucked yet. However, I think it’s for a good reason. The peaches look a bit too small to be fully ripe. They probably need another day or so of proper nutrition and sunlight to be plucked and shipped away.

I stand in my shower, the hot water still drips off me. Ahhh, there’s nothing better than the feeling of having just left a shower. My body feels all nice and clean, it smells good, and I always get a little burst of energy afterwards! Earlier, I was contemplating taking a nap, but now, I’m thinking about heading out and enjoying this oddly warm day…

However, a look of extreme boredom is spread across ‘his’ face.
