There may be allusions to scat, but if there are I'll publish two versions of the story, one with the references and one without them. There are a few different angles I'm thinking about for this story, but what you can expect is Mal having a lot of space to play with his prey and to linger in the details~ >:3

1. Okay, but why?
I have a lot less time nowadays to draw Forest comics, and I know that original comics and stories were one of the biggest draws to my artwork when I first started posting online. There's a limit to how much artwork I can draw in a week, and large portion of that time has to be devoted towards commissions for me to keep doing this full-time. Sponsored/Crowdfunded comics might be a great way to have more original stories with characters that I know a lot of critters love, while still making sure that I can pay rent X3

2. If I sponsor a story, can I decide what happens in it?
Nope! <3 These are fully original stories, the same as Good Bun, Infomerical, Drop Off, Fren, etc..

3. Does this mean that Forest comics won't be drawn if they're not funded?
No, not at all :3 There are still comics that I'm going to want to do that aren't a good fit for this kind of sponsorship. This is an effort to make it easier for me to draw more original artwork, not less <3 Right now, it's difficult for me to prioritize these kinds of works (think about how long the polished version of Drop Off has been in pawgress!). So the projects I've listed above are ones that I wouldn't otherwise be tackling at all - at least, not any time soon.

4. Will this only be for Forest stuff?
I'm also interested in funding pieces with Max the Eevee and other original settings, but I'm going to focus mostly on the Forest, at least to start out. This is because I suspect that more critters are interested in seeing stories from the Forest than are interested in seeing me do things with Max or with Pokevore cards.

5. Will there be more options to fund NEW comics?
Occasionally! (Quality Time will be a new work :3). But I'm going to prioritize projects where I feel confident I can estimate the number of hours the project will take, and new comics have a way of varying their scopes as I work on them X3

6. Do I need to join Subscribestar to pledge to a project?
Because of how Subscribestar's system works, you'll need to be a subscriber, but you won't need to be a supporter. I've made a $0 free tier on Subscribestar you can join if you don't want to pay monthly. From there you can make a one-time pledge and list the name of the project you want to support :3

I'm looking around at other potential payment methods for critters who can't use Subscribestar at all, but there aren't many payment processors that are a good fit for this kind of thing. So far, Subscribestar is the only one I've found that I feel confident won't ban the stuff I draw, that allows for one-time pledges with notes attached, and allows API access so that I can automate keeping track of everything.

7. Why do funding this way? Why not sell finished comics?
I do plan to make one-off projects to sell through Itch.io in the future, but I want those to be self-contained, because I want the majority of my artwork to be accessible to anypony who wants to look at it <3 There are community members who follow me who can't afford to regularly buy artwork - funding comics and stories this way means that they can still look at the finished pieces when they get released publicly <3

The Forest, Max the Eevee, and Pokevore cards are all also series. It's important to me that floofs be able to read through a lot of them to get a feel for the characters and to learn more about the settings, rather than needing to buy individual pieces.

8. What happens if a project gets over-funded?
I'll try to keep the funding goals up-to-date so that it's easy to check the status of every project :3 But starting out, I'll be doing that by paw while I finish setting up Subscribestar APIs, so it's pawsible that I might be too slow to update one day and a project might get over-funded. If a pledge goes through that over-funds a project, I'll ask the supporter what they want to do with the excess pledge. I'll either apply it towards a commission or apply it towards another project of their choice, or (if the project is very over-funded) look to see if there's a scope increase they'd like to see to make good use of the pledge.

9. Can normal Subscribestar supporter pledges count towards these projects?
Unfortunately not - I use normal pledges to help fund monthly doodles and separate side projects, and to help fill in some of the gaps with payment fees from commissions and non-drawing time sinks. This is a separate thing, specifically for funding original stories :3
