Fast forward a couple of years after her first time with Cody, and Emma still has a bit of trouble controlling her shifts, but she has a routine down. About once a month, she goes out to the state park near her home, strips down, shifts and hunts by stalking and chasing a lone human down. Tonight, there's a slight break in routine in that she stumbled upon a couple about to have sex, and while she didn't want to kill two people when one would do, they saw her, and even as uneducated in the ways of Lupae as she is, Emma knows someone seeing her in her wolf form and getting away would be bad, so she gobbled up the man on the spot and is now chasing down the woman.

Emma has figured out that she sickens and loses control completely if she doesn't eat someone at least once a month, but she hasn't figured out that her lack of control is due to her not eating enough. Eating a human a month - or even rarely two like this! - is the minimal frequency of consuming human flesh a female Lupa needs to survive; the ideal diet for a female Lupa is at least one human a week. And of course, Emma still doesn't know she is a Lupa, the poor girl still thinks she's a werewolf.
