I think it's a joke towards how most people get triggered easily about their gender/race? Unsure, but that's what I got from it.

The joke was meant to be that the Chikorita (Who had previously been an apple) wasn't as well adjusted as she said she was. I must admit I don't know if it came out as well as it sounded in my head. ^^;

Is it just me, or does the chicor... apple look an awful lot like Pipimi from Pop Team Epic?
...Actually, the style of humor rings rather close to that series, too. One has to wonder if any of this was intentional...

Heh, I must admit I was reading a lot of Pop Team Epic comics at the time. There's a chance I may have been influenced by that when I drew this.
