basically, the horseshoes were items that protected Sly from damage in the first game.
So in this context, it means he's going to get digested.

Isn't it a world filled with anthropomorphic animals? That'd be like the equivalent of collecting sneakers to resist damage :p
I mean I get the connection between horseshoes and luck and such but if you think about the broader context of the world in which the characters exist it doesn't make a whole lotta sense honestly.
Or maybe I'm overthinking this
