Huh. If this was only slightly different, it would be a fantastic transformation comic rather than skinning/dissecting. I guess the interest is in the snuff part here, but imagine Ava being transformed into clothing and remaining sentient while being worn. It sounds like she'd love it.

I try and stick with the rules of the universe I'm writing in, and while there is talking clothing in Marvel comics (Iron Man's armor) and Magic (so many examples) and transformation magics (Frog Thor comes to mind), none of those are used commonly or commercially by regular people, or even by large companies! (Peter parker becomes a billionaire not by marketing any super science like his webbing or variants thereof like his perfectly insulated anti-electro webbing, but by selling what are basically slightly better iPhones!)
Which is to say that yes, this could have been a really solid transformation story replacing Ava giving up her life with giving up her freedom, liberty and autonomy as a person. But the thing that's stopping that from happening isn't the fact that it's a snuff story, that's a choice I made and could just have easily have made differently. What is stopping it is that under the framework of a large fashion company in the New York City of the (pretty close to mainstream) Marvel universe, it feels a lot less plausible write a transformation story than the one I wrote. A less plausible story is harder to write in a believable way, and as a result of that, I ended up writing the story I did. Also, the transformation stories I do write generally aren't magical transformations (see Allers Offers for an example) so there's that too.

So... Reed Richards is useless. Got it. I will admit, as if it wasn't obvious, what I suggested was my own personal preference, but even then the similarities are rather striking.
Didn't realize you tried to stick more towards Marvel universe rules where none of the super stuff seems to trickle down to the masses, but hey, that's fine.
