Seems to me even if he did get the phone it'd just end up with a fuller lake monster

Both versions are great! Even if he could reach the phone and tell the police he is "being swallowed by a lake monster", I have little doubt they won't believe him and give him a stern warning to stop making crank phone calls on the 911 emergency line. Thanks for sharing!
