“Hey, didn't I tell you to take out the garbage already?”
“In a minute mom, damn.” Reina crassly responded, waving her hand without taking her eyes of the television. It was barely after breakfast and her mother was already hassling her with the usual crap. It was a Sunday too so it was supposed to be a day off to relax with some snacks and watch some shitty variety shows. Real life however decided that she couldn't enjoy that too as her usual favorite program of comedians slapping each other bloody was rudely interrupted with a breaking news report.
“What the fuck? I was ready to laugh my ass off.” Reina grumbled, reaching for the remote.
“Wait don't change the channel. Isn't this about that boat that went missing from your class?” Reina's mother said as she stood behind her daughter.
“Oh shit, the boat, right.” Reina said, suddenly remembering the ill fated class trip she was supposed to have gone on. In hindsight she was lucky her constant truancy and violations of riding her scooter to school had resulted in her being punished by not being allowed to go on the trip to Hawaii with her friends Yoshida and Anna. For once being a criminally poor student actually paid off. Of course it was a total tragedy that all her friends were most likely dead, but shit, better to mourn them while being still alive right?
“-icked up by a cruise ship that was just passing by at the time.”
“Oh they're saying they found someone.” Reina's mother said as she listened to the reporter deliver the breaking news.
“Shit really?” Reina said, genuinely surprised. “Wait, just one? Who the hell managed to survive being stuck in the fucking ocean for so long?”
“We now go on the scene where Kuroki Tomoko, the only know survivor of class 3-5 of Makuhari Shuei High School, is about to give her first interview since being rescued off the Pacific Ocean.”
Nearly spitting out her drink, Reina sputtered as she saw her only surviving classmate appear on the screen. However something was totally off about the girl. Now Reina wasn't the most astute in paying attention to her surroundings but even she could tell that last time she saw the Kuroki girl, she wasn't nearly as hefty looking as she remembered her being. Hell, hefty wasn't even the right word for it, Kuroki was downright chunky as fuck. Tomoko who was normally just a scrawny little thing seemed absurdly bloated now, with a potbelly so huge it spilled out over her shorts and bulged out like some overly pregnant woman. And those breasts! It was near comical seeing those two ridiculous orbs straining against her now ill fitting swimsuit top. Clearly Kuroki herself wasn't used to her own sudden increase in weight as she kept fidgeting with the plump sides of her corpulent midriff, constantly squeezing it with her fingers anxiously like if she was afraid it would leave her if she let it go.
“H-How did she get so fucking fat?”
“Shh, quiet Reina, they're gonna interview the poor girl.”
Turning up the volume, both Reina and her mother proceeded to listen in. With a gaggle of microphones shoved into her face, Tomoko looked like a fattened deer caught in the headlights. With a beet red face covered in oodles of dripping sweat, a clearly nervous looking girl not used to any sort of limelight attempted to answer the reporters questions.
“E-Eh..erm... well you see, um, I-I jumped into a lifeboat, s-something like that..?”
And you were the only one? Did you happen to see any other survivors?
“I-I don't think so? Maybe? I b-blacked er, I think. I just remember waking up in the boat by myself, y-yeah.”
So how did you survive all that time by yourself without any food?
“Heh?! O-Oh, um I had some snacks. I guess they were enough for a little bit? B-But I was really starving by the end of it I guess uuUUUUURRRRRPAAPH...S-Sorry! I-I'm still a little urp...s-seasick eheheh...”
“Wow what a brave young girl.” Reina's mother said. “Imagine surviving all alone without barely anything to eat.”
Kuroki looks like she ate a whale what the fuck you talking about mom? Reina thought as she gave her mother a puzzled look. As the interview went on with an increasingly stammering Tomoko who continued to fiddle with the pudge of her round middle, Reina could only conclude that she really was glad she didn't go on that class trip.
=====================
Loved the idea of a pred trying to hide their crimes while being interviewed by the media. The socially inept Tomoko was a perfect choice of course.
Follow up from the previous picture drawn by ecchipandaa who did a great job replicating the style of Japanese tv including the requisite celebrity reacting in the corner.
