My first proper story! Credit to drpolice for allowing the use of his character Gale, the pred of the tale and face of the thumbnail.

This piece is the reason I got a gallery set up; I'd never really done a lengthier piece of writing before, but after chatting for a bit with another user they convinced me to give it a go. I ended up getting a bit carried away and now it's ~10k words long.

The beginning and end of the divergence is marked by three asterisks *** right at the end. Basically the prey is conscious for a bit longer and there's a slightly crueler twist before she croaks, it's a fairly minor difference, but I liked it enough to upload both versions.
