Swampy 3: A meal he can not refuse

Billy had been suspicious when the strangers drove up to his hut in their expensive looking dark SUV, but the more he talked to them the more he liked them. They said they were working for a TV production and they had a very keen interest in Swampy, after stumbling across an article about him in the local press.
“People are taking increasing interest in predatory animals these days. They are no longer just the creepy highlight of old fashioned ‘man versus nature’ documentaries and the internet celebrates every occasion a giant snake or mutated shark devours a bad actor in some trash movie. We want to capitalise on that potential with a shark week style reptile special.” Explained a man named David, who seemed to be the head of the small team.
Billy was smiling ear to ear as his beloved pet alligator was attracting attention beyond his town now. Somehow it made him feel good.
“Speaking of that, I saw him eat a shark once when I took him along to a fishing trip with a friend. Sadly had no fancy camera phone back then but it sure was a sight. He was smaller back then too and refused to go stray munching for half a weak afterwards.” Billy narrated to the black suit who successfully feigned deep interest.
“So, we have a few ideas in mind how we could create something special starring your alligator. We would just have to borrow him for a few days and will return him once we are done with the shoots. We will likely dokument him through an entire digestive cycle so you get him back happy and well fed.”
As it turned out food was really no issue at all for someone living right in the swamps and who got paid a wage for letting his predatory pet go wild among stray animals and the occasional unlucky pet. In the end the team had to agree to a small rental fee for the unique leashed alligator and with some help from Billy they were able to coax the large reptile to climb up a board leading into the spacious trunk of their large car, where Swampy curled up with a confused expression.
“Just turn up the heating to uncomfortable, then add a couple of degrees on top and he will be nice and sleepy. A real puppy as long as it’s warm enough.” Billy added as a parting tipp before letting them drive off with his gator.
 
Driving was a rare and wholly disliked event for Swampy but after a few minutes the hard working heating of the car caused the interior to fill with a soothing heat as well as the sweat of his temporary caretakers. It was a bumpy ride at first but soon enough things smoothed out as the car reached the freeway and the lack of bouncing and rattling allowed the reptile to sleep during most of the one hour drive. By the time the vehicle stopped again, it was difficult to get Swampy to wake up and back out of there. With tired, annoyed growls he voiced his preference for not moving at all, until someone got the idea of waving a chicken half in front of him. That sure got him to open his eyes and he walked down the plank out of the car, jaws agape and greedily staring up at the dangling treat. Once it was dropped, a well practiced snap and a quick gulp saw two pounds of bird vanish from the earth.
“You seriously raided the fridge to lure him back out.” sighed one man, getting a scoff from his colleague.
“Remind me to let you wrestle him next time.”
Once he was waking up properly, Swampy was lead by his leash into an empty room. Its tiled floor was slightly sloped towards a drain in its center and it smelled of strange substances the reptile never encountered before.
 
In the next room the supposed film crew was standing around a figure bound to a chair. The guy who introduced himself to Billy as David squatted down to face the tired beaten up face of his captive. “So, any idea why we left you alone in our lovely abandoned slaughterhouse for so long?” The young man on the chair groaned, obviously scared and unwilling to even imagine what the others had in mind for him.
“You see, we have issues all the time with some naive youngsters like you thinking they can sell stuff on our turf. Some have simply now idea how things work, that they are not the first ones to come up with the idea to sell drugs. Most are just stupid junkies themselves. That is why your buddies got off with a warning and a few broken fingers. They’ll probably get worse from their mommies if they are even younger than you, Marvin.” That got a laugh from the other two mobsters before ‘David’ continued. “But seeing that you worked for us first and then betrayed all the trust we put in you is just asking for an example. Apart from the usual not getting out alive thing, you are going to participate in a small experiment in the noble science of body disposal.” he explained with a wicked smirk.
That was enough to get some life back into the beaten up nineteen year old wannabe drug dealer. He squirmed and writhed as best he could, but as soon as he was cut loose, the three grabbed him from all sides and wrapped him in nylon wire until he had to be carried to stay upright at all.
“Remember Jurassic Park, kid? You get to be toilet guy today.” ‘David’ groaned as he shoved Marvin into Swampy’s room, closing the door behind him.
 
Swampy’s confusion stopped when someone else and some familiar smells entered the room. He was familiar with human scents. Sweat, fear and since that one time he bit someone’s hand off, blood. But this time he was not confronted with a shocked or enraged pet owner whose animal he had relocated to his stomach, instead some slim guy fell flat on his face, wiggling like a worm and screaming bloody murder as he faced the large reptile. For the first time Swampy looked at a freshly broken nose and got bombarded with the noise of a human in genuine terror and fear for his life. All of this was a bit odd, but he had no issues placing the smell of fresh meat in the intriguing category. With slow waddling steps, Swampy walked closer, right up into the man’s face who in turn tried to wiggle back, finding himself stopped by the door at his feet and constrained by many meters of nylon wire. As Swampy’s reeking breath added to the criminal’s discomfort, the alligator was more and more convinced that, in spite his previous experiences with most humans, he was facing prey. The intense scents brought back memories of that one time someone tried to pull his dog back from his gullet by its leash. Not willing to give up his meal, Swampy had snapped the man’s hand, rolled over the ground, tearing it off and swallowed it before the guy realised what happened to him. The taste was not bad, but the kicks in the back he received from his owner had discouraged such behaviour in the future. But Billy was not here now. Just him and that immobile human, who behaved a lot like an injured scared prey animal. After a while, Swampy decided to listen to his growling, basically empty stomach.
Swampy opened his jaws a bit indecisively. He had a hunch that he was not supposed to eat people like his owner, but then again, this one was not resisting other than commenting his consumption with preyish squeals. With no empathy at all, the reptilian jaws gaped wider, engulfing the human’s head and parts of his chest as the gator walked forwards a little, pushing the recently refurnished face on Swampy’s tongue. Skin, sweat and blood coated the inside of his maw, weak wiggled only firming his resolve to feed and making his belly groan, yearning to be filled. When he felt his stomach preparing for the large meal Swampy passed the threshold of decision making for good. He was not going to bear acid reflux just for keeping something else alive. He had to eat the human now. With a few gentle tugs, in gator terms, he pulled his prey further into the room, giving himself some space and lifting the front of the man’s body up so he could lunge and drive his jaws further underneath his torso.
 
Once the face reached the back of his tongue, the wannabe mobster was face to face with a throat flap large enough to easily engulf his head. He wiggled impotently, feeling the long yellow teeth of the gator dig into his skin. There was nothing but a layer of denim protecting him at best but so far the teeth merely added discomfort to the nearly heart bursting terror he experienced as he saw the black tunnel in front of him open and the maw lift up, preparing for another lunge. There was a sudden jolt and the pain of pointy teeth grinding over his hips as his sudden acceleration was stopped again as his entire head and shoulders were catapulted into the massive reptile’s throat pouch. He could see a tiny bit of dim light, feeling air rush over the back of his head as the beast eating him took a breath. The stench was bad, but even worse was the creeping sensation of the slick flesh hugging his body occasionally, when the beast swallowed. Every so often it would lunge again, toss his lower body into the air a little bit and move its jaws underneath him, using inertia to consume its meal, him, whole and alive.
 
Once the annoyingly square shoulders were well and truly lodged in the firm grip of his throat, Swampy felt his meal turn from a chore into an exotic delight. Swallowing the bound man was easy now. Most dogs half his weight put up more of a fight and by now his jaws were advancing over the man’s legs, allowing Swampy to look further up, lifting his snout and letting gravity pull the prey down into his belly. All the saliva was making sure that the human’s grabby fingers found no purchase, tickling the feeding gator at best. From this point on, finishing his meal was a matter of merely a few seconds. Energetic gulps and a good slope from maw to stomach let the human slide in and swell out is gut nicely. A slight bulge appeared on his left side, underneath his ribcage, but other than that the tasty guy simply disappeared from the world. And even that bulge would soon prove to be very temporary.
 
About the time Marvin felt the gator’s teeth interlock with the heels of his shoes, he was given a new thing to worry about when his face was rudely shoved against the firm sphincter to Swampy’s stomach. To his utter dismay, the muscular valve happily yielded during the next gulp and allowed him to slide further in with alarming ease. His wounded face was smushed into and rubbed along the powerful and acid coated folds of the alligator’s stomach. Before he had any time to choke on the acrid fumes or let the burning sensation settle in, he was pumped further down, meeting the previously devoured chicken half at the pit of the stomach, feeling the already softening flesh on his right cheek, almost like a forecast for his own body. The firm squeeze of the sphincter moved down his body, sliding over his torso, then hips and ultimately stopping at his knees, leaving his lower legs stuck in the reptile’s gullet until enough of him was digested to make room.
Marvin’s thin clothing was soon entirely soaked in stomach juices and once most of the air was evacuated in a deep rumbling belch, he was doomed to suffocate rather soon. Barring a miracle, this was still the best fate he could hope for, but the struggling human did not notice it at the time. Besides burning on his bruised and cut face, the acids had another effect, as they reacted with the lion string binding him. One coil of plastic wire after the other snapped under his wiggles and soon the whole brunt of a half suffocated terrified person was shaking the slight bulge he made.
Marvin could obviously not see that someone was filming his demise through the cracked door. His degradation to gator fodder was being documented and going to be employed to discourage others from displaying his treacherous behaviour in the future. But right then and there, inside Swampy’s well practiced stomach, Marvin was being digested alive for the time being. The strong peristalsis rolled over his entire body back to front a couple of times per minute, more acids drooling and trickling over him in between such clenches. To his great luck he was soon falling unconscious, the acidic fumes in the stale air making it impossible for him to keep breathing to experience the full meaning of being food. The predator himself seemed to not really care what was going on inside him. Happy and fed, Swampy already had his eyes closed and was about to fall asleep to let his body deal with its most recent tenant.
As time went on the completely soaked meal started to soften and the small rocks Swampy had inside his belly for this exact purpose started to grind up the weakened skin where they could reach it. The face and some parts where his clothes did not reach or were pulled out of the way by Swampy’s swallowing motions were the first places where Marin’s skin started to swell, grow soggy and eventually peel off. The rest of him would not fare any better since an alligator’s stomach was one of the most hostile places a body can be put inside. The nylon string was chosen exactly because it would dissolve into sludge in the acidic environment and given enough time, the prey’s clothes too were going to be ground up into particles small enough to fit past the small pyloric sphincter and join their owner in his destiny as gator waste. But it would still take several days until then.
Having done a little bit of research on their cold blooded assistant, the mobsters rolled in a warming light once Swampy was properly asleep, helping his body stay warm and digest his meal as quickly as possible. They were looking at one of the neatest and cleanest body disposal jobs ever, at least as far as evidence went. Screw soda or sulfuric acid. By the time Swampy’s body revealed the aftermath of his accompliceship, he was supposed to be back home already.
 
Time dragged on and the cheap denim covering most of Marvin’s corpse was getting soaked in his increasingly viscous flesh as mush as in the gator’s stomach juices. Bones started to show on the prey’s knuckles, face and back and most of his brain had been reduced to a thick paste which was oozing from the orifices his eyes used to fill. All of this nasty business was happening hidden in plain sight under the thick unassuming hide of the sleeping alligator. Already Swampy’s body was benefiting from the hefty meal, absorbing the first few kilos of melted human while Marvin’s feet were still stuck in his gullet and the shoes could probably be washed and saved. This would stay that way until Marin’s spine eventually collapsed and the gator throat’s desire to retake its natural shape pushed the last bit of food inside the groaning, bubbling stomach.
 
Hours turned into days as the bulge in Swampy’s side slowly grew softer, then shrunk into nothing. The noises coming from him shifted as well, the low groans of peristalsis mulching the dissolving human body was joined by a more steady gurgling sound emitted by Swampy’s intestines as they worked over the liquefied meal. By the time they were ready to load the alligator back into their car and drive him home, the happy reptile had pulverised most of Marvin’s bones and ground his clothes into fine passable mush once only hard remnants were inside the stomach.
Well fed as he was, Swampy was easier to coerce in and out of the car, slowly connecting his new friends with good food and a nice warm lamp. He would not mind doing this trip again sometime. His food probably would not, but once he was back home, the indigestible rubber soles of his shoes and a set of braces were the only identifiable remains of Marvin. The rest was sure to leave Swampy’s insides once he felt calm and at home in his little pen again.
 
A few days later ‘David’ got a call from Billy. The man sounded disturbed and erratic. At first the mobster was concerned he might have missed something, that he would have to go back and dispose of the stupid hillbilly to cover his tracks. He hit himself on the head pretty hard when he heard that Billy found some remains of Marvin’s clothes inside his gator after all. Who could have thought he would pry around the animal’s stomach? But it all turned into a good smirk and a lot of laughter at the bar eventually, when he told his friends that Billy really fell for the ‘Just like shark week’ excuse again. So they would probably keep using Swampy to dispose of the odd body here and there.
