Since I've progress quite a bit since I made Mary's first reference, looking back at it, I kind of cringe at it. This feeling of unease at her design has paralyzed me from working on her, especially on some bigger projects that I've been dying to finish. I decided to do something I'm horrible at; practice, and it seemed to have paid off! This sketch is the end result of brainstorming alterations to her design.

If you want the long explanation, heavier body types end up resulting in one of two types. It seemed in all of my "research" that body types naturally favored either a large belly or large legs and ass. This resulted in designs that either diminished the size of the belly to show off the legs, or such a big belly that from the front view, the legs where completely concealed. With this new design (that's actually an improved version of an older design), I can have both wide, visible legs/hips and a large belly no matter the angle! Hopefully, work can commence now that I've crossed this annoying mental hurdle!
