The characters being drunk gave me a good get out of jail free card for something that bugs me with most fatal. It feels out of character, the idea that anyone (villains aside) would shrug off their friends or family being eaten and digested just feels so out of character, so them being drunk gave a good excuse why they would act casual about, because they think it isn't real
