Only a quick sketch tonight, no ink. I'm not feeling well again after an attack yesterday. Too much light again, got me in a mood, so the bat's getting eaten.
Juniper's in a happy, distracted flight, not seeing the night-owl of a hawk who immediately gulps her down without a second thought. Should've watched where you were flying, little bat!

Oh my, I hope you're recovering well from that attack. This must really be a pickle to deal with though, so can I only say to take your time to recover and return in a healthy state ^^

That's good news to hear :D
I have a question, it may be a silly one, but I'm wondering if, by the way you represent yourself and how porphyria is a big deal, you're considering to be somehow a Child of the Moonlight ? Sorry if this question is quite disturbing or inappropriate, as it's just my genuine curiosity.

A "Child of the Moonlight" - a vampire, so to speak? There is already an association with porphyria, such as theories mentioned on the main wikipedia page for it:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porphyria#Vampires_and_werewolves
Plus a ton of other articles likening the myths and the real disease, so I found it quite an appropriate depiction for myself; I sort of look how you'd expect a modern vampire would anyway.
To my surprise I have met several people who believe in the existence of the more mythical vampire and that I could be one - two of them even threatened me over it. As for what I believe... usually I'm too lost in an abstract train of thought to care about what's real and what isn't.

I wasn't aware about this association between porphyria and vampirism and lycanthropy as well :O.
To be honest, I was thinking about people who have to deal with Xeroderma pigemntosum (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xeroderma_pigmentosum), a genetic disorder by which those it afflicted (mostly children) can't be, in any moment, be exposed to Sunlight. If it happens, they may get severe sunburns, deafness, a very dry skin and various cancers. So, in order to protect themselves, they have to live their daily life during nighttime.
So in my country, they are poetically called as "Children of the Moonlight", as well as associations dedicated to help them. And I made a link between Xeroderma and porphyria as they both have to avoid Sunlight for their own good.

Oooh, yes OK. There are several other light sensitive disorders, and on top of that porphyria alone has 8 types - mine is "variegate" - with different symptoms. Not all of them have light sensitivity, but different triggers. Mine has multiple, like sound, stress, some foods; light is just the worst and hardest to avoid one.
Xeroderma would be more skin based, no? With me, it's a fluid in the blood that helps process glucose, but is very sensitive. With porphyria, your body makes 1000x more than it's supposed to, and your blood ends up reacting to everything around you. So the nervous system vibrates and panics, and causes a pile of symptoms, depending on what started it and where. My skin will sting and tingle, and after awhile big blisters will form all over. Almost lost a toenail to one a few years ago, for walking barefoot in the sun. But I get confusion, hallucinations and stuff with light a lot.
It's entirely relatable, being up all night, or only on cloudy days. I usually go to bed in the early morning unless it's stormy out. So guess I am a child of the moonlight!

Ahh yes, nice bat butt. Very nice catch!
Why does the bat have a butt? Did it evolve for running upright on two legs? No, of course not, it was sculpted by vampire magic for for flavor and presentation, obviously.
I appreciate your art. Hope you're doing better now.

Well thank you!
And I suppose if a vampiress is to have an animal form, looking how she pleases, then it might as well be pleasant to look at!
But I might expand on the idea that 1 in 10 animals in my world are born anthro like this, but otherwise act like a normal one, save for being very naive and curious; usually eaten right after maturing and leaving home.
That way, I have versions of my bat and squirrel girls that are just animals getting eaten by preds, helpless with no powers or human IQ to save them, but they look the same. Whenever I draw them getting eaten by normal amimals or in food, usually they're the versions that have always been that way.

Your world sounds like "Discovery Channel- except now it's anime!"

Sort of yeah. Lots of chances for more pics and comics of these anthro'd up animals getting eaten!

Cute anthros getting gulped right up by feral critters is the best. :P Just food for a hungry opportunistic animal.

Yup exactly, you get it! Something about prey being so helpless and innocent but with human traits, and pred just mindlessly hungry, gobbling them up without a second thought!
