A while back I asked ShyGuy9 if I could write about their character Ashe.
This story is told mainly from Ashe's point of view when one day in her depressed, meaningless life, she finds some reason to live; however fleeting the feeling might be. This is not going to be a very happy story, but it will hopefully still be a satisfying one by the end.

It's a slow process because I have so many projects at the moment, but I definitely plan to continue this.

If I recall correctly from what I've read about the character, she's not exactly good at holding onto relationships, so...we'll see how this goes.
You know, if she wasn't a dragon capable of eating people, things might actually go better for her, since she wouldn't be capable of killing people on a whim when some half-depressed-half-paranoid thought drifts through her head.

I kinda think that's a bonus. Dragon capable of eating people? Less risk of being cheated on cause one wrong step and the cheater and the one he cheated with are dinner.

Yeah, but the problem is when she thinks someone's cheating and they're not, or when she's just pissed off due to a mood swing, etc.
Neuroses on their own aren't bad, and being a flamethrower-breathed, person-eating walking tank isn't necessarily bad, but when those two things are combined, innocent people get hurt.
To make a tortured analogy: it's like the difference between a baby hitting someone because they're angry and a 6'6" boxer hitting someone because they're angry; both are lashing out as part of an impulse, but the boxer can knock your teeth out because of it.
And, besides, if someone's cheating on you and you're willing to kill them for it, you don't need to be a dragon to do that. Being a dragon just means you need to restrain your worst impulses even more than a human. Which she can't, because, heya-ho, mental illness.

That's what makes her so good. She's a hopeless monster born from a victim of circumstance.

Made a big change to the first couple of pages based on some feedback I was given privately for the story.
I wanted to make a point of showing how depression can result in this horrific self-destructive cycle of toxicity which social media in particular is *REALLY* fucking terrible for perpetuating, but the problem with the original was it jabbed a little too hard at real world politics, which was both a sour note and maybe a little immersion breaking for the story.
I feel this new version is better in that it accomplishes my original intention better without pulling people out of the story by mentioning real world political extremism. But I'm sure you can still use your imagination. I have no desire to make political statements with this kind of story anyway, and the only goal was to highlight how really awful some people can be to each other.

Coming back to read this story again and wow. You truly captured the quintessential social media experience. Idiots from all sides arguing about nothing. Ashe being called a dracophobe was just the icing in the cake lmao.
