The corrupted Gem decides to taste test it's possible new diet... And it decides to savor it a bit longer. Jenny Pizza doesn't understand what or why, all she knows is that she's stuck. The struggle reminds her of all the other Gems she ate. The Corrupted Gem decides to get to the point, decides to begin it's "process" Jenny.... and her body.

I’d imagine there’s a lot more going on inside of a human than a gem, considering a gem is just pure light.
