The Voromanti Organization of Magic Enforcement (V.O.M.E.) was originally a military organization of mages and wizards for many millennia, a very old one that served "The Great Unifier" as special forces during the planet's very long history of conquest and imperialism. It had been under many names, including the Order of Witch and Warlock Hunters (OWWH), even after it became repurposed to be a branch of police against illegal black magic rather than a military force until very recently it was renamed to V.O.M.E. further cementing it's new image as a protector of the people.

VOME's uniforms used to be Black with gold lining and less revealing, ironically considered "too inappropriate". In Voromanti, clothing was considered lewd, the more clothing the worse except for uniforms, environmental hazard clothing, or unless the person was a human in which case the opposite is considered true because nothing makes sense. In any case, one would think that a very thin fabric would be useless, that is the real trick to these outfits, the material is Terran Silk woven with microscopic white crystals known as Museykite. Museykite in the ancient tongue of the Voromanti is a gemstone that meant "Magic Eater", as the name suggests it drains the Magia (think Magika in Skyrim with the recharge rate of Dungeons and Dragons) of spells used against it like a sponge. It doesn't take a lot to completely negate a low-level attack spell and reduce the effects of medium and high-level attacks. It obviously doesn't protect against physical damage but since these guys are gunslinging mages they're not likely to take physical damage in the first place like the normal branch of the police. With that said, all VOME Hunters are specially trained in protection spells and acrobatics to avoid taking physical damage in the first place, as well as some being specially trained for healing purposes.

That said the uniforms are designed to easily make space in the event that a Hunter must swallow someone whole to detain them by unbuttoning the vests. They were made with comfort and Voromanti's strange idea of practicality and versatility in mind.
