READ AFTER STORY: Okay, originally this was going to be one chapter, but, with what I have planned, I'll need to split the finale into two parts.

again with random thoughts instead of a real review, but… well, maybe it’s a bit belated, but somehow it’s Dream-Weiss’ swallowing the chess-pieces that made me realize in hindsight how Weiss’ plan could kinda be summed up as “the way to my heart is through my stomach” XD.
speaking of hearts and stomachs, Weiss’ reunion with her mini-selves felt like a nice showing of how eating Ruby seemed to mellow her out more towards her childhood - she’s no longer turning them aside or trying to coddle them, as if Ruby’s sense of open-mindedness merged with Blake’s sympathy. it’s a nice contrast to her seeming love-hate reception of Yang’s emotional traits - like how she curses Yang every time a pun slips out, as if some of Yang’s temper also started bleeding through ^_^ (albeit only directed at Yang and the Nightmare thus far). Weiss using Ruby’s semblance was a bit more of a surprise though since she didn’t seem to get Yang’s or Blake’s as of yet, and it makes me wonder if its just Weiss’ aptitude increasing (in which case i wonder if she’ll use the others’ semblances too) or a result of Ruby’s willingly letting Weiss eat her/accept Weiss’ absorbing her while Blake and Yang were forcibly scarfed down and resisting.
i think one of the scenes i liked most was the brief exchange with the Grimm-guard where Weiss showed off her synergizing of Team RWBY’s abilities - Blake’s agility and hit-and-run/fade-in-and-out tactics, Yang’s strength and brawler style of a hard counterattack, Ruby’s speed and intuitiveness to mix the two styles together on-the-spot, Weiss’ own focus and finesse with multiple powers (i.e., all her glyph’s different powers); even Dream-Willow’s shadow-form to sub in for or adapt Blake’s moves for herself. it’s a neat little way of showing not just RBY’s presence inside Weiss’ but how Weiss herself isn’t afraid to rely on “borrowed” strength anymore.
speaking of extra strength, for some reason the chess-pieces kinda remind me of some upgrades in a Metroid Prime game, not providing whole new power so much as unlocking the full potential of a current one - the white piece seemed to let Weiss influence her dream through her glyphs easier, while the yellow seemed to tap more of Yang’s power; it also seemed like it’s let her ‘dream-actors’ tap it as well, like spreading a protective aura over all her selves and soldiers, or Sneezy-Klein’s anger empowering him the same as Yang (or maybe i’m reading into it too much). and of those dream-actors, i admit i didn’t expect her grandfather to be among them - but it makes a twisted kinda sense when a desire to fix and honor his legacy’s been her biggest driving force alongside defying her father’s control.
also, as bit of an aside; but is it weird that seeing Nora made me think about how she and Weiss might have something in common in regards to “thinking with her stomach”, since it’s giving her the info her head/mind couldn’t be trusted with XD. speaking of which, considering Weiss still has to ingest the chess pieces, i’m wondering if an “object swallowing” tag would be appropriate.
well whatever comes next, defiantly curious to see how the nightmare (both literal and figurative) ends ^_^
