Brendan returns to Garkel to find things are not well. Royal forces control every aspect of people's lives, and simple survival has become even harder because of it.

"Just following orders" the oldest and most disgusting excuse of all. The one thing I found humorous here though was the book title "Dances with Okami" I wonder how this one is compared to the original XD
With two chapters left, I am very curious to see how this ends now!

Some of the most terrible actions in human history have been 'justified' by the phrase, "I was just following orders."
I don't believe it would hold up compared to the actual story, but it would be similar in storyline, if the natives were also wolves.

He's a god from giant religion that is believed to be the being that created the universe, and is interpreted as a being of unfathomable size. The people of Garkel adopted that belief, which is a sort of 'the lord works in mysterious ways' take on a deity, since it teaches that all things, no matter if they're good or bad, happen for a reason. There's no such thing as coincidence in this religion.
