A dark plot unfolds against the near-future megacorporation Black Scale Ltd. On the day of the company's yearly keynote gala, their top contract killer and 'problem solver,' Zix, finds gets dragged away from the glitz and glamor to deal with a very unusual problem. The little kobold brought in for questioning seems unwilling to talk. But when Zix finds a novel way to communicate off the record, the grey-scaled dragon discovers that the nefarious plan and the kobold's fetishes, are uniquely intertwined.

I've been wanting to write a near-future SF piece for a while now. Body modification and bionics can open up so many different avenues for a setting! And if you know me, you know that I like to explore conversation and dialogue in novel ways. This story developed out of some chatting with https://www.furaffinity.net/user/temp50 and grew into a rather nice piece! Definitely scratched my itch for something in that neo-futurism vein.

The ending is a bit abrupt, but I am eager to continue with this one, so expect to see a Part 2 whenever I get around to it. And for now, enjoy!
