He can come back (maybe not the same shape at first) but he does he only have a finite number of times but he doesn't know how many.

Ooooh, that's an interesting concept! Don't think I've come across that before. Adds to the sense of fear and risk, while still offering a possible safety net.
So how does he come back? Reforms from his girlfriend's shit? Pops back into existence somewhere?
