So, I used to have a backstory for Idenia that was only half thought through, but nevertheless quite complicated.

Well, I cut out much of it, and changed most of the rest up a bit too. Just in time for my first art of this form of her in... a long time.

Idenia Aracia is a demon. She used to live in the nether planes that demons originate from, but the chronic scheming and backstabbing, plus the lack of fun, led to her ditching that place as soon as she managed to get summoned to a physical plane. Instead, she spent a few centuries slithering around, seducing and spellbinding mortals, often eating them and absorbing their souls to further increase her own power. She ended up being a rather powerful demon this way - but her prolonged stay in the surface world also caused her to gradually develop a conscience and a desire to feel love. Sadly, demons need to devour life-force to keep themselves alive, but this became increasingly hard for her to do as she no longer wished to harm innocents.

The demoness prayed to the Love Goddess Celuna, and eventually, her prayers were answered. By becoming bound to Celuna, Idenia could anchor her existence in the physical world, much like how angels and devas do. In return, she became a servant - but it is a servitude that she happily carries out, since it involves fighting against injustice and tyranny wherever she goes.

A non-negligible number of tyrants and evil overlords have ended their days within her roiling stomach.

When she's not out on a quest, she teaches advanced healing magic, and mathematical modelling of ley-line flows at university level.
