    Lyrics:
    The one who has fallen
    Wrapped in nocturnal despise
    Surrender of the cosmic lie
    Conjuration, evoke above and below
    Arcane, occult, clandestine stars witnessed
    The one who has drowned
    Enshrouded in splendor so bright
    Inclination of the blackest light
    Fragrance of the perished, redemption revealed
    Slaver, strive, iniquitous life redeemed in wrath
    Invocation, ascend to its source and
    Crave, cure, purity, the surrender of cosmic lies
    In revelation, fathomless glory
    Sacrificed mortals, a scorned trinity
    Solo: R. Trujillo / S. Kummerer
    Music by Steffen Kummerer & Linus Klausenitzer
    Lyrics by Steffen Kummerer

    Germany’s progressive death metal masters OBSCURA complete their long-running, four-album conceptual circle with the release of Diluvium (defined as a great oceanic flood), their most evocative, diverse and vibrant release to date. Recorded with longtime producer V. Santura (Triptykon, Pestilence) at Woodshed Studios in Landshut, Germany, Diluvium is a stunning achievement for the illustrious quartet and a landmark release for progressive metal as a whole. Complete with all the band's signature elements plus groundbreaking polyrhythms, dramatic songwriting, and jaw-dropping virtuosity, OBSCURA raise the bar once again with an album that will go down in the annals of metal history as one of the most astonishing performances the genre has to offer.

    That opening riff is epic. My only issue with this track is when that riff comes back at 2 minutes the drums don't have as much of an impact - missed opportunity to have the riff repeat with the blast there to add some colour before the breakdown!

      Im a fucking massiveeeee fan of both that and this band so yeah haha cool to see someone point that out. Be'Lakor are so underrated and Countless Skies is one of the greatest pieces of music let alone metal ever written. That main lead lick that kicks in after the intro is fucking 20/10

      Dude, listen to Incarnated, Prismal Dawn, Perpetual Infinity for melody or Velocity, Ocean Gateways and Ode to the Sun for heavy slow/mid tempo songs. They've never been about tech wankery all the way through imo, and Diluvium is certainly not the first time they showcase great songwriting on top of their inhuman musicianship imo.

      @@Metalton95 Currently learning how to play Ocean Gateways and I approve this message 100%
      I like that they have a few songs even a dipshit like me can learn to play, I suck at arpeggios and sweep picking but I can chug the shit out of those power chords and harmonics, its a great feeling :P

      I disagree. I consider Akróasis a little better than Cosmogenesis, and Diluvium as the pinnacle of their career. Just my opinion.

    • @kosmosyche
      @kosmosyche 6 лет назад +17

      I also don't get that come back sentiment. They were very consistent in making good records over the years. In fact their discography is pretty much impeccable, as far as I'm concerned.

    • @irockmajorly
      @irockmajorly 6 лет назад +5

      Am I the only one who feels like this album feels kind of like a massive step backward? It feels like somewhere in between cosmogenesis and omnivium, and I dunno, I was hoping they'd keep progressing. I remember steffen saying there would be loads of orchestral elements on this album in interviews, and that's only present in like one track.. Akroasis was a lot more climactic than this. It just doesn't feel like the four album cycle should end in such an anticlimactic way in my opinion. I'm not saying it's bad, but I just kinda wish they hadn't gone back to the neoclassical lead guitar route, I think what they did on Akroasis was miles more innovative and in general better. I dunno though, I still really enjoy it for what it is.
