Braised in Beer Sauce
Natalie kicked her heel clad feet in the air from atop a vintage red stool at the far end of the bar. The low, warm yellow light that dangled above her, illuminating the black and white suit and skirt she'd worn straight from work, might have been romantic for some. For her however it might as well have been an interrogation light. The same questions her mother would always ask rang through her head, tonight in particular: Why hadn't she been married yet? Did she really think her career would be enough to buy her happiness?
Was there something wrong with her? She was on her way to a promising career, influence, and she had a better education than most. So what if she was in that… salary transition between wage and the real earners? Or, the more pressing question… So what if she was a little stagnant on the charisma front? She could learn. She took another swig of her now warm drink from its crystal glass. While Natalie nursed the last few sips of her drink, there was the now familiar *Jingle jingle!* of the front door. "Who? Me?" Natalie gave an overplayed, theatrically dismissive flick of her wrist. "Naw. I'm…" She stopped herself there, fearing she'd blow her chance if she pushed too hard. "B-but well, if you're offering…"
The oni simply smiled, before turning to face the barkeep once more. "And a Dirty Shirley for this sweetheart right here, please~"
Natalie felt her heart leap a little higher than it should have. She called her a sweetheart! That was practically… absolute confirmation that she found her cute, right? After swallowing hard to keep herself grounded, she then faced her benefactor again. "I'm Natalie by the way." Initially she reached up to offer a handshake, but on deciding that might be a little too formal, she instead tried to smoothly place it down on the bar… missing the first two attempts.
The oni gave another sweet laugh. "Akako." was her only reply. She nodded down the table's length, to indicate that her server was ready with her next drink.
Natalie lifted her arm, and watched the glass stop exactly at her arm's length. This guy really knew what he was doing, it seemed. After passing him a quick smile, she took her first swig. "S-so… do you stop by here often?" Immediately she scolded herself internally for asking such a basic question. She must sound so boring…
"Oh no. At least, not nearly as much as I did during my wilder years." responded Akako as she passed a warm smile. "You?"
"Oh y-yeah. I'm… like, super wild." lied the workaholic. "I come to dives like this all the time."
If Akako could see through Natalie's thin veneer of false drinker bravado, she wasn't showing it. Her eyes widened ever so slightly, and her tone indicated genuine intrigue. "Really? I'd bet you could outdrink me by several laps then."
Before Natalie could even respond, Akako had already signaled for another, harder glass to follow, and the increasingly nervous human could only respond by downing its predecessor in a single, hardy gulp. While the Shirley had at least been a bit sweet, this glass of particularly harsh, daredevil beer even smelled angry. She couldn't imagine just yet how it would taste.
Still, she'd gotten this far, and at the very least the oni was on her way to finishing her first. Maybe… if they were both just a little more loose… she'd really have the chance to turn this into something special. After taking a deep breath, she hefted the glass full of caramel liquid up to her lips, and managed a slight sip…
To say that it burnt at the back of her throat would have been an understatement. That tiny portion alone would have been enough to start the incineration of Alexandria, she thought. All the same, after gasping for air, she considered how she was closer than she'd ever been to something real now. What was a few seconds of pain to a night, or maybe even a lifetime of delight? After steeling herself for the foolish thing she was about to do, by gripping the underside of the bar with her free hand, she tipped the glass into the back of her throat.
*Chug chug chug!* She was already tearing up, yet only halfway done. *Chug… COUGH! Chug…* She'd hoped that once she was finished the fire in her esophagus would begin to subside, but in fact the lack of flowing "juice" allowed the sensation to magnify tenfold. For now, the inexperienced drinker's world was nothing but pain.
"Keep!" Natalie’s voice was hoarse and raspy. "Something… *COUGH!* sweet to chase it down… please?"
The orc simply smirked, and in just a few moments had slid another Shirley her way. Sure he was setting himself up for more cleaning, but he was having fun watching.
Natalie didn't even allow herself time to think before she pulled the latest glass to her lips. The relief was palpable on her face. "Ahhh… *COUGH! COUGH!* That's… good stuff…" she insisted.
"Oh I haven't been able to polish off one of those in years… let alone in ten seconds." admired Akako as she finally finished her Ogre.. "How about some good, old fashioned Biller for the next round?"
In truth, Natalie had never been good at holding her liquor, and by now she was already starting to feel a little tipsy. However, this only brought on the allure of the booze all the more. Consequently, she simply gave a thumbs up in reply. That last beer had just about destroyed her, but it strangely made the lighter drink that followed all the more satisfying.
"You know…" Akako began a bit shyly, which contrasted ever so slightly with her mature air. "I hope you don't mind my directness but… You're so cute I could just eat you up~"
Natalie felt a jolt of excitement pierce her heart at that. It was mutual. This monstergirl did like her. "O-oh!" The girl drank another bit of her chaser. "So, don't keep me in suspense darling." Akako continued. "What's your story hon?"
Natalie took a moment to snap back to the conversation. "I-if you're really interested…"
The oni listened with rapt attention as Natalie tried to talk up all of her accomplishments. Soon enough however, some fifteen minutes in as the drinks kept pouring, the alcohol was enough to remove those proud inhibitions. The human admitted that her four years of college had been a boring slog. She regaled her frustrations with feeling like she was going nowhere fast, and feeling like the people up top only hired her because they thought she was a pretty face. Even with that assistance however, she'd stagnated at the middle level.
No matter how boring the story seemed to get, Akako was planted firmly in her seat, diligently taking in every word. This only pushed Natalie to dive further and further into inebriation, wanting desperately to prove herself all the more. She wasn't just some number in a company's ranks. She had a fun side!

It was well enough, as the cab only needed a few minutes to arrive. Much to the disappointment of the now-cleaning orc, the two were in the back seat of an elf's yellow car, and on their way to the calm scene of upper suburbia. Soon enough the concrete jungle gave way to green lawns and eventually, Akako's well kept abode.
"Oh I suppose I got so excited that I neglected to do my due diligence. Silly me. You don't mind if try that new recipe I mentioned? I know it's sudden but I think it would be just perfect for you~" Akako's question came as directly and sweetly as if she were just asking what type of movie her date would like to watch. She gently gripped said human's wrists and held them level.
"Hmm?" Wildly drunk as she was, in truth Natalie probably wasn't in the best state to understand the question, let alone answer. "Oh shhhhhure. I've never had a f-fancy dinner afore… You know~ Ya… do that sorta fing… often?"
"Oh absolutely sweety. I've never gotten a complaint from a meal. Each of them absolutely enjoyed getting eaten. Even those who never would have guessed they were into that sort of thing beforehand."
Natalie giggled softly, letting Akako lead her through the doorway directly into the cool blue colors of the kitchen. Barely able to follow what was happening, she then simply watched as the oni began to mill about gathering various pots and pans, one of which was a good deal larger than the others. What little bit of her brain wasn't drowning in alcohol at the moment, was screaming at her to stop and consider what was happening, but for now, the corporate pawn was far too relaxed to consider anything other than just how beautiful this asian demoness really was.

Natalie kicked her heel clad feet in the air from atop a vintage red stool at the far end of the bar. "Oh y-yeah. I'm… like, super wild." lied the workaholic. "I come to dives like this all the time."
If Akako could see through Natalie's thin veneer of false drinker bravado, she wasn't showing it. Her eyes widened ever so slightly, and her tone indicated genuine intrigue. "Really? I'd bet you could outdrink me by several laps then."
Before Natalie could even respond, Akako had already signaled for another, harder glass to follow, and the increasingly nervous human could only respond by downing its predecessor in a single, hardy gulp. While the Shirley had at least been a bit sweet, this glass of particularly harsh, daredevil beer even smelled angry. She couldn't imagine just yet how it would taste.
Still, she'd gotten this far, and at the very least the oni was on her way to finishing her first. Maybe… if they were both just a little more loose… she'd really have the chance to turn this into something special. *Chug chug chug!* She was already tearing up, yet only halfway done. *Chug… COUGH! Consequently, she simply gave a thumbs up in reply. That last beer had just about destroyed her, but it strangely made the lighter drink that followed all the more satisfying.

The human admitted that her four years of college had been a boring slog. Even with that assistance however, she'd stagnated at the middle level.
No matter how boring the story seemed to get, Akako was planted firmly in her seat, diligently taking in every word. Soon enough the concrete jungle gave way to green lawns and eventually, Akako's well kept abode.
"Oh I suppose I got so excited that I neglected to do my due diligence. Silly me. You don't mind if try that new recipe I mentioned? I know it's sudden but I think it would be just perfect for you~" Akako's question came as directly and sweetly as if she were just asking what type of movie her date would like to watch. She gently gripped said human's wrists and held them level.
"Hmm?" Wildly drunk as she was, in truth Natalie probably wasn't in the best state to understand the question, let alone answer. "Oh shhhhhure. I've never had a f-fancy dinner afore… You know~ Ya… do that sorta fing… often?"
