Alice can get into some trouble with her tricks, this time, she tried an escapism trick with a pred of the public, and... it seems it might be hard getting out this time...

It is safe to say that her audience doesn't know she enjoys it too, so when she starts getting soft inside the stomach, it's kind of a shock to them.
because she wasn't supposed to be digested.
Imagine being in this show and you can see the performer's figure gradually dissappear in a pred's belly (note: she was supposed to escape safe and sound).
It can be shocking to some, and the silence of the crowd could be...

I'm sure the pred can just claim she disappeared too far away to ease the crowd if they get worried, but that wouldn't fool everyone, obviously ;P

You could say it was a success if she gives in at the end, but that's not the plan, since the show must go on. If she gets digested, who will continue the show instead?

Known pred or not, she IS able to escape, but her tricks may fail from time to time.
BTW, the assistant is just a random volunteer from the public.

I'm guessing that she likes to reward volunteers for the show with a meal when she does escape. Said meal may or may not be her.
