Max smirked smugly as he used his claw to clean the rest of the cloth out of his teeth. He lost count of how many trainers he ate that were waiting for the gym leader. Probably 3.

Usually when he eats prey that are humans, that have a potent smell to their bodies. Usually it's what they taste like. Based on experiences with his former trainer, Max learned that the scent meant that the prey was going to die within a week. Well good news for all the tasty trainers. His belly had a predscape they could live in, similar to an afterlife. He gets free food, they get a peaceful afterlife waiting for their god(s) to come and pick em up. A win for everyone...well mainly for Max. He's a smug bastard like that.
