Wit Mwees being so effective with their orifices. Are there ever any of them being given tasks like assassinating targets or controlling species as some sort of pest control.
Or are all of them involved in science and politics?

Mwee are a race of traders. They travel in small groups in huge trade freighters. There are mwee outposts and even colony worlds but their population is small compared to most spacefaring species. This did let them keep a low profile and even stay neutral in what is now called the Great War, because their population was too small and too scattered for the Enemy to consider them worth chasing down to eat.

In general they don't often permanently eat people. You really have to annoy them. Not for nothing, but Strega's job for a while during the war was to eat enemy quislings on various planets.
